Bark Boards is beloved by many people across the country for good reason. They've built a community around paddling that has expanded to many other areas of surf and sport. It is a family brand dedicated to a love of the ocean and it shows in the care that Joe Bark has for his craft. The goal for this project was to honor the history while looking towards the future market opportunities.
From a mixture of archival photos and recent race pictures I pulled old logos, colors, and inspiration for the new look.

For 45 years riders have ridden Bark boards 32 miles across the channel from Catalina Island to the Manhattan Beach pier in the annual Catalina Classic race. Topographic lines from that same channel make up the background for the new branding and updated colors help achieve a modern, energetic feel. The new look uses a primary color of Overcast beneath the Ken Black-designed logo in Comp Red. Three alternative color schemes are included as well for future use in web, graphic, and product application.
The web and mobile looks keep the same clean ethos and structure of the current layouts, but add in the new brand colors, lines, and highlight the photography to create a more visual experience and show off the history and expertise of Bark Boards.
