Challenge

In Q1 2018, advertisers spent, on average, $7.91 per thousand impressions (CPM), and $1.41 per click (CPC). The average click-through rate (CTR) on Instagram was 0.52%.

Advertisers on social platforms were seeing significantly low returns for the amount of money they were spending on content. CTR was at such a low level, and users weren't connecting with brands on any meaningful level. We felt that removing the barrier between social and eComm on a platform that encourage creativity and creation could spark excitement in the industry.

Solution

Our solution was to focus on shop-able video. Partner with companies in the action sports world who were already creating great content, and give them the ability to tag their products in those videos. By plugging into their existing CMS, they could add SKUs into their account and let users easily shop right from their content, thus cutting out the issue of the diminishing click-through-rate.
